Bastian, who I met on the Canary Islands at a similar event (GranGuanche Gravel), is now organising the first edition of this exciting 725 km gravel event.

The combination of Alpine mountains & mountain cuisine promises to be cool. Gravelling through the beautiful Alps (let’s sweat …!) with the aim of getting hold of a tasty dumpling (yay!) – that should motivate everyone.

The start is in the Salzburg area, then it goes along the border of Tyrol and Bavaria and ends at Lake Constance.

There are around 15,000 metres of elevation gain to overcome, no mean feat on a gravel bike.

I’m really looking forward to meeting new like-minded people!

My plan is to set off on my MTB. The Panceltic Ultra Race (2300km along the Scottish coast) at the beginning of July is not yet fully ‘digested’ and I want to make it a little easier on my legs with the lighter gearing and I’m simply more skilful on the gravel descents. The gravel:tarmac ratio will be 442:280, so a lot of gravel …
